Accessibility

Our goal
We want Buttle to be usable by everyone, including people who navigate the web with a keyboard, a screen reader, voice control, magnification, or other assistive technology. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA across the app.
Where we are
Buttle is in early development, so accessibility is a work in progress. We design with semantic HTML, keyboard focus states, color contrast that meets AA on text, and labels on interactive elements. We have not yet had an independent accessibility audit, and there are likely places where we fall short of WCAG 2.1 AA. Please let us know if you find any issues, and we’ll fix them.
Known limitations
- We have not formally tested every page with each major screen reader.
- Background refreshes after returning to a project page may not yet announce themselves clearly to assistive technology.
- Some illustrations and decorative elements on the marketing page may need better text alternatives.
If you run into something that blocks you, please tell us — see below.
Report an issue
If any part of Buttle is hard or impossible to use with the assistive technology you rely on, email hello@buttle.app and tell us:
- the page or feature you were using,
- the assistive technology and browser you were using,
- what happened, and what you expected to happen.
We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within 5 business days and to either fix the issue or share a plan and timeline for fixing it. If a quick fix is not possible, we will work with you on an alternative way to accomplish what you were trying to do.
Third-party components
Some parts of Buttle, such as sign-in, are provided by third parties (Clerk for authentication). The accessibility of those components depends partly on the third party. We pick providers that take accessibility seriously and we will surface any provider issue you report to the relevant vendor in addition to working around it where we can.
