Terms of Service
Last updated May 8, 2026
The short version
Buttle is provided as-is, for free, while it is in early development. You own what you put into it. Be reasonable, do not abuse the service, and remember that AI assistants you connect can read and change your projects.
Who can use Buttle
You must be at least 16 years old to use Buttle. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.
Your account
You are responsible for what happens under your account, including any activity by AI assistants you have authorized. Keep your sign-in credentials private and notify us if you suspect unauthorized access.
Your content
The projects, items, decisions, todos, shopping lists, questions, notes, and other content you create in Buttle (“Your Content”) belong to you. You grant Buttle a limited, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, transmit, and display Your Content solely so we can operate the service for you and so authorized AI assistants can read and update it on your behalf. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except where we are required to keep a copy by law.
AI assistants and connectors
Buttle works by letting AI assistants like Claude read and update your projects through an MCP connector. When you authorize a client, you are giving that client access to the projects in your account using a per-account OAuth token. We do not control what the connected client does with the data it reads, and that company's terms and privacy policy apply to its handling of your data. You can revoke access from the assistant's side at any time.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- break the law or use Buttle to harm or harass others;
- upload content you do not have the right to share;
- store sensitive data that needs special handling (for example, government IDs, payment card numbers, health records, or other regulated personal data);
- try to break, overload, scrape, or reverse-engineer the service, or bypass security and rate limits;
- use the service to send spam or unsolicited messages, or to train models on data you do not have permission to use;
- share your account or your OAuth tokens with people who should not have access.
Service changes
Buttle is in active development. Features may change, break, or disappear, and we may add, remove, or restrict functionality at any time. We will try not to lose your data, but you should keep your own copy of anything you would be upset to lose.
Suspension and termination
You can stop using Buttle and delete your account at any time. We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, abuse the service, or create legal risk for us or other users. If we terminate your account, we will make a reasonable effort to let you export your data unless doing so would create further harm.
No warranty
Buttle is provided “as is” and “as available,” without any warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not promise that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI assistants will behave a particular way.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability to you for any claim related to the service is limited to USD 50 or the amount you have paid us in the past twelve months, whichever is greater. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
Indemnification
You agree to defend and indemnify us against claims arising from your content, your use of the service, or your violation of these terms, except to the extent the claim is caused by our own misconduct.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York and the United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be handled in the state or federal courts located in New York, and you and we consent to that jurisdiction. Nothing in these terms limits any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have under your local law.
Changes to these terms
If we make a meaningful change, we will update the “last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email. Continued use of Buttle after the change means you accept the updated terms.
